The Sketch

In an interview Aaliyah once said: That is all me. That is so Aaliyah. When it comes to my career and comes to my life, don’t get in my way. 

Aaliyah spoke from her heart and was hungry. She was motivated for reaching the top. No matter how hard it seemed, Aaliyah kept on moving forward until she couldn’t anymore. She kept on singing. But she didn’t stop on her own. Something did get in her way. Aaliyah had plans. She was called to rest. When it’s time to rise again, Aaliyah will continue in a more perfect plan. 

If Aaliyah was feared, and if she was a threat to anyone, it has done no good for someone to wish her gone. Aaliyah’s works is still working through her fans. They still love her and her music. It’s amazing. She’s been gone since 2001, and her fans love her as if she’s still here. 

Aaliyah may not have gotten as far as she was going to go in her career, but she went further than she thought. While she was here, her success might have seemed far away to her trying to get to how far she wanted to go. But when Aaliyah was pronounced dead, love came from every corner in the land. 

After her death, we waited for one last movie from her. We had something new to see from Aaliyah after she passed away. That was the movie Queen of the Damned. 

I was upset when I found out that Aaliyah’s part was taken away from the Matrix. I yearned to see all that Aaliyah had left while I was sad that she had left us. 

Romeo Must Die was my favorite movie starring Aaliyah. While she was alive, I was in hopes to see more films from Aaliyah like that one. I was hoping for a part two to Romeo Must Die since their were two other men in a helicopter that got away near the end of the movie. One of the men was Edoardo Ballerini as Vince Roth. 

Aaliyah has done well in acting. Her acting ability looked as if it came so natural. She left her mark on the characters Trish O’ Day and Akasha.  Her acting performance is impactful and memorable. The characters she portrayed were so well portrayed and brought to life that they will be remembered by audiences for a long time. Her acting left a lasting impression on the viewers.

Aaliyah had realness when it came to herself. Aaliyah didn’t appear to put on a front or try to impress anyone with false pretenses. She seemed genuine, authentic, and true to herself. Aaliyah had honesty. Her fans loved her for who she was, and they keep her legacy alive.

The Sketch

Aaliyah was serious about her life. She wanted to be all that she could be and do all that she could do. Aaliyah was planning to start her own clothing line. She liked wearing oversized sweatshirts and baggy pants, and hats. Aaliyah was also sporty. As she got older, her fashion grew. 

Creating the sketch drawing using only pencil, I thought of those things about Aaliyah. 

I sit and wonder what ideas she would come up with today for a clothing line business she would own. I picture her in a half coat, shirt with a neck collar and design down the middle of the shirt, and wearing suspenders. Her left arm is in a half coat sleeve. Aaliyah is holding a fashion cane and has a hat hanging on the wall. 

If Aaliyah would have been alive today, she would have been a very powerful woman, and I believe kind of dangerous too. Aaliyah spoke about the dark side. I don’t believe she would have bothered anyone, but on the other hand, I believe she would have bothered those that would have bothered her. Other than that, Aaliyah seemed kind, and she liked having some time to herself. She loved her family.
